Owner’s guide · Buying
The tax treatment can matter as much as the fuel savings. Ask your tax advisor; here is what to ask about.
Short answer
For 2026, U.S. Bank reports a Section 179 expensing limit of $2,560,000, phasing out above $4,090,000 of equipment purchases, and 100% bonus depreciation restored by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. A qualifying business that buys a Beetle 100 at its $56,900 MSRP may be able to deduct the full cost in the year it goes into service. Confirm with your tax advisor.
How the deduction works
Section 179 lets a business expense qualifying equipment in the year it is placed in service instead of depreciating it over several years. Bonus depreciation can do the same for amounts beyond the Section 179 limit. The tax actually saved depends on your bracket and situation.
Financing
The Beetle 100 is sold only through authorized STAG dealers, so financing goes through the dealer and its lenders. Compare the payment with the fuel and maintenance savings from the calculator.
Questions for your advisor
- Does the machine qualify for Section 179 or bonus depreciation in my business?
- Which year will it be placed in service?
- How does financing affect the deduction?
