Litter cleanout between flocks, bedding and supply handling in the livestock building with the worst air.

Short answer

The STAG Beetle 100 suits litter cleanout between flocks, spreading new bedding and moving bagged supplies in poultry houses. Poultry houses record the highest ammonia levels of any livestock building, and an electric loader adds no carbon monoxide on top. On large commercial houses it fits best for spot cleanout and smaller buildings, with bigger equipment still handling full cleanouts.

Jobs it fits

Litter work between flocks. Remove caked litter, clean around feeder and drinker lines, and clear end walls and corners that larger machines can’t reach.

Bedding. Spread shavings or other bedding with a bucket.

Supplies. Move pallets and bags with forks.

Smaller houses. On breeder, pullet, layer and small-flock buildings, the Beetle 100 can handle most loader work.

Air quality

The Canadian livestock-barn factsheet notes that the highest ammonia readings come from poultry operations. It lists carbon monoxide among the concerns in poultry and swine buildings. A battery machine removes engine exhaust as one source.

Biosecurity

Clean the machine between houses and between farms. Wide tracks hold less litter than wheels in their treads, but every track still needs cleaning. Built-in telematics show where the machine has been, which helps with biosecurity records.

Questions

Will the tracks work on litter?

Wide tracks spread the 3,240 lb machine over more area. They can be swapped for narrow tracks without undercarriage adjustment.

Where should I charge it on the farm?

Any standard 110V/15A outlet charges it in about 8 hours. Use a properly rated GFCI circuit in a dry spot, and have an electrician check barn wiring before you plan on nightly charging.
